Our goal is to create a “digital you” app using blockchain to issue a certificate which enables you to become the owner of your credentials (such as college transcript, job information, etc.). It will allow you to share them anytime, anywhere. Everything will have digital signature that is certified and verified and you will become the owner of your digital life.
Research, Usability Testing, User Flows, Sitemap, Wireframes, Prototyping
We came up with an app that allows you to store and share your verified credentials leveraging the security of the blockchain. It allows one to have verified Personal information, Education history and work experience which is easily shareable with a potential employer.
Initial discussions took place to outline the requirements of the project. We were unable to access the company's research and engineers which meant we would need to take a scrappy approach to research this new technology.
Blockchain being a technology that is not yet widely understood, we needed to wade through a lot of data and talk to many folks to arrive at meaningful facts.
Interviews with other designers and developers that were working on other use cases or had done research filled the technical gap that we had. Civic and Uport were two users of blockchain technology that had apps that had similar features to what we were thinking of incorporating.
We had to narrow down all the research and come up with a viable use cases. We thought of the job hunt process. Many credentials have to be verified in this process. Research showed a growing number of Diploma mills which leads to more expenses for verification . One's identification, academic backround and work experience are all items that a potential employer would have to verify.
We set an 8 minute timer and the goal was to produce 8 sketches. We repeated this cycle until sketches were refined.
Accordion" or "Tab" view? We had to decide which layout we would go with. After some testing with users, 6 out of 7 Users preferred the "tab" view. This also lined up with SAP style guide so it was a win-win situation.
The back-end technology truly has potential. You want to show the user enough about the blockchain to build trust but not too much as to confuse and intimidate the users.
